Listening to Lucy and Roifield last week bemoaning the departure of Vicky and Hayley made me think: Why have all the Birmingham accents been purged from Ambridge. Those two plus Jack Woolley sadly gone. Also, even the yorkshire-accented policeman is hardly ever heard from. We’re left with a parade of posh boys, whiny posh girls, and the occasional yeoman yokel. It really is a much more bland listen than it used to be, and harder to tell people apart.

I can’t disagree with a word you’ve said. This is really an issue on the show, lets hope that the new head honcho redresses the balance during his tenure.

Maybe the posh accents are a reflection of house prices, I have done a very quick google search and the average house price in Warwickshire which I picked as a sort of Ambridge place is about one hundred thousand pounds more expensive than in Birmingham. So your average Brummie wouldn’t be able to afford to live there. It’s a theory.

Good theory, Janispope. If they don’t watch out they’ll have Kirtie Allsop moving in as a weekender.

She opened the fete didn’t she? Which fits in with her brand image quite nicely.
