With Roifield busy in the New World YokelBear comes to the rescue to partner Lucy in this week’s trawl through the debris and carnage of another week in Ambridge. And my what a strange week it has been. Apparently elves are living in the woods and there has been a housing explosion in the Ambridge / Aldridge Millennium Wood – even the newly arrived Latif had to ask Jennifer what it was called.
Indeed Latif appears to have been recruited to enable the team to educate new listeners as he has to ask questions about soil erosion caused by maize crops, feeding anaerobic digesters and allow Brian to make a pointed remark about Adam being his “stepson”. After 40 years of marriage to Jenny you might have thought he could call him “his son”, particularly as Adam has never known his own father and Brian was a good father to him.
Within seconds of Lucy completing her usual outstanding monologue (this week was particularly good) I heard my name being called out as they could not remember Sean and Peter at the Cat & Fiddle (the earlier gays but not in the village) plus Luther who might have been Phoebe’s father but wasn’t (and it was not Idris Elba either).
Some weeks ago Keri mentioned that there was a re-write due to a missing cast member – this was clearly Kate who was not around to sort out Lynda’s allergy to mushroom compost. Indeed given that Kate is living at Home Farm her ability not to feature is alarming. Even more alarming are Pat’s continual hysterical outbursts – reminder to the script writers, Tony is the moaner and Pat is level headed and sensible and gets things done.
Memo to Lucy and YokelBear. When she visited before the Ursula was always taking Henry to church – the strange thing is that he did not go with her last Sunday. You really should listen regularly. Of course stories get re-written – I never knew the original version of Hansel and Gretel featured the mother rather than the step-mother (which takes us back to Brian and his one son …).
