Mary not Contrary provides the opening DumTeeDum this week where Roifield and Harriet Carmichael (Shambridges) are joined by Christine Michael from the Ambridge Observer for a comedy filled 90 minutes.
Ambridge Observer went live in late 2014 and takes the form of a blog and has developed into a newspaper approach to reporting events in Ambridge. In real life she is a magazine editor by profession and this authenticity shows through. Her husband introduced her to The Archers in the early ’90s with her first story memory being Lizzie as she was abandoned by Cameron Fraser. She feels that TA is there to be life enhancing and seeks to highlight the comedic side of the dramatic events. PC Burns press conferences being a particular highlight.
Discussions of various characters ensues – too complex to cover here – but great listening. Especially when Harriet gets onto her knowledge tents (and presumably tent flaps) – but then refuses to explain! PC Harrison (Carpet) Burns is based in Borchester as part of the Local Neighbourhood Team which covers Ambridge. Talk even turned to my other favourite continuing drama – Coronation Street. Shambridges feel that Christine should sit in next time Lucy is away, she then revealed that they actually do have a script!
Callers seem to think that Pip and Toby are now meant for each other, although that might be the death of Jill Archer for the family by a Mrs Fairbrother. Miss Mid City is a lawyer and really does not seem to think that the legal approach being adopted by Anna Toboggan will work and does not reflect reality at all. Miss Mid City is also making huge contributions to the forum on the website.

Harriet also seems to have great knowledge of Punch and Judy and that these days the P&J man has to emphasise that it is theatre.
