Interesting, we all complained when no one in the Archer Family – Bridge Farm branch – stood up to Rob.

Now when someone in the Archer Family – Brookfield branch – is standing up to Toby (who is revealing himself to have more of Rob’s traits than we originally suspected) when no one else will, we accuse her of “losing it” because she’s of “that age.” I’m not saying that she isn’t, or that her personality change isn’t surprising, but we have no other evidence in any of her other behaviors, of significant changes. I guess she has always felt in the shadow of Grace and never worked it through; and has never forgiven Toby and Rex’s father.

The scriptwriters may have decided to give Jill-“Behavior variant Frontotemporal Dementia” – that wouldn’t be very nice of them if they did – and patients with it don’t present as Jill has been presenting.

Of course, I haven’t your expertise Witherspoon; I only have my experiences with the elderly to go on ..I could be utterly wrong. But I didn’t find Jill’s behaviour startling, in part because of my experiences with other people of that age.

To be clear, I agree with you. I disagree with the people who say she must be losing it.

My mum reckons she’s going to have a stoke at Christmas during an argument with or about Toby

There are quite a number of characters who are aged over 80 and in suspiciously fine fettle compared to people of the same vintage who I know in my family and socially.

I’d be sorry to see Jill be the one to suffer ill health. I quite like her feistiness and cussedness when it comes to Toby. It’s more truthful than to feign tolerance.
