This is brilliant but for one main problem which is that the success of the business depends on Toby getting off his arse and making any gin, and/or David being able to motivate him to do it.

Maybe David’s first act as owner/manager of Scruff Gin should be to sack Toby and give the job to Rex instead, who, after all, has now been shown the secret recipe and taught how to make the stuff.

I would keep Toby on, iniitally to do everything but as the business expands he should do the sales and marketing with someone (not Rex) to do the distilling. Toby has the gift of the gab and that should be used – but David needs to educate him on the work discipline needed and making him a suitable man for her daughter. Toby does love Pip as Roifield keeps pointing out.

Good idea Kosmo – but Claire is right: outside David’s management skill set.

It hadn’t occurred to me till mentioned on the podcast that Rex could sweep up…not just Pip, but the job at the Bull and the gin “empire” too.
