This week in the Archers seemed a little uneven – absolutely stunning piece towards the end where it looked like Lizzie might get Lily to see something approaching sense and then used an inappropriate choice of words and Lily shut the door with an almighty bang! At the other extreme it was not immediately obvious why Tracy Horrobin turned up trying to con a viewing of Home Farm or posh drugs when all drug dealing is far from posh.
The comedy storyline at the moment though is clearly the dunderheads at Bridge Farm who having sold the coos down the river in July 2013 are now going full on muesli with nuts and oats and wheat. Natasha said simplify and concentrate on core business. So Tom and Pat want to start a new profit stream. How long does it take for a tree to become productive let alone profitable? Selling the cows meant that they no longer were in control of the source product – and look where that has landed them. Surely losing Ed’s Jersey milk supply from Grange Farmn and Sterling Gold ought to have taught them a lesson?
Meanwhile there is a real problem in teaching children in the village right from wrong. Helen is kicked by her disobedient son and Freddie is doing drugs. Luckily Roifield will have no such problems with his daughter as he is willing to dob her into the police (with agreement from his partner) when she was naughty. If only the parents of Ambridge were that good in teaching the children good behaviour.
Lucy’s Week in Ambridge reaches a new high as Roifield observes the joke count is up on last week! More callerinerers needed too please.
