I was going to write about my weekend away in Aberystwyth this week but apparently I have been rumbled and I should be writing about Lucy and her week in Ambridge and the discussion between Lucy and Roifield which follows once he has pointed out that this week’s monologue is so much better than last week.
The first discussion is Roifield admitting that as nothing happened he had to read the summaries on the BBC pages (which are often poorly written). Lucy points out to Roifield that means it was a good week on The Archers because we do not want anything to happen but want decent character led interaction – just the programme which Roifield has been demanding for years! As Lucy observes Nick Warburton was responsible for the words this week.
Two key characters drove the week along. Firstly Orville (a clip from Top of the Pops might explain the duck to our foreign readers) who was the Tynesider who landed in the village this week. Why would a person from the benighted north with a daughter who lives somewhere else land up in Beechwood? This latest incarnation of Jean Harvey would never move somewhere without good reason. And she is not Vicky either who arrived to stick to Mike and suck him into the outer regions to spend more time playing Davros. Apparently I have it wrong she is Joy Horville. The writers do it deliberately.
The other was of course Tracy Horrobin, who in a single word “Why” appeared to be a DumTeeDum regular to cut through weeks of intrigue and bagged herself Sunday lunch at Lower Loxley once the cricket season is over. Tracy will of course be one step ahead of Soosan who has never had Sunday lunch at Lower Loxley.
There we go is that enough about the podcast this week?
