Roifield expresses views which I suspect are widely held. As he says if Lynda survives she will be a very different person and much changed – is that what we want from “The Archers”?
Graham Blockley, as many of us know, was in his professional life before retirement a doctor (he was using his holidays to appear on the programme) and delivered a master class in being the distraught husband. The terrible stories of recent weeks have been written to demonstrate Lynda’s value to the village – we knew the storieswere strange and characters were behaving oddly – now it has all been explained but it was not necessary – we all know about Lynda and we could have gone straight into the explosion without the pair bonding, the B @ A and all the rest of it. Thank you Roifield – this is not what The Archers should be.
And it was also wrong to suddenly dump the kitchen on Blake’s head – how can we care about someone we have never previously heard mentioned? It might have helped if Phil had told Gavin to use Blake over the weekend.
And I have to admit that Roifield was entirely right to be suspicious of the boyo from the valleys; clearly the way he dug himself out of debt was not quite the right side of the law if they use petrol as a solvent.
