With The Archers in lockdown and taking us on a journey through some of the recent archives, Dumteedum also takes a walk on the wild side and becomes the Dennis the Menace fan club as the Beano character takes centre stage in the podcast with both Roifield and our returning special guest presenter Angela Barnes finding that they both had “Gnasher” badges and much else in common.
Congratulations to Angela on her engagement.
New callers often recall an early story from when they commenced listening and this enables Roifield to recall Mike’s inability to select a tie for Betty’s funeral which was a very touching moment from recent years.
With Hedli Niklaus admitting she was never very keen Kathy Perks during her recent appearance on the weekly Zoom meeting it provides an opportunity for the hosts to examine Kathy’s contribution to the programme and to consider her relationship with Kenton. Then it diverges into a discussion of post divorce parenting processes which Angela observes is often driven by other duties the parents have to undertake.
We even get an explanation of how Roifield does the editing of DTD – all of which depends on when the message is recorded. Even Angela is stunned by the huge amount of planning which goes into the chaos of DumTeeDum following a query from Red Agnes.
So this week is a very diverse rag bag – just like The Archers itself at the moment.
