This week’s comments come caked in mud to prove that tier 2 is very dangerous. Imagine the scene, a muddy walkway between two lakes, an enthusiastic, bouncy, powerful Bordanese (a cross between a Border Collier and a Bernese Mountain Dog) at the end of a modest lead sighting a harmless looking swan about six feet into the nearest lake which said dog decides is either lunch or a new playfriend. Dog takes off at high speed. Attached walker is wearing brand new coat and wellington boots because it is so wet and loses his footing and starts sliding on the mud towards the lake. Eventually the dog senses the weight on the lead and the expletive laden shouting coming from the slithering body behind him and halts just prior to entering the water. After all that the content of the podcast did not seem important. The walker was so muddy that it was a walk home as I was not going to get all that mud all over the inside of the car!
I cannot take it any longer. The intelligent and warm Kirsty would never have ever got into bed with a hunter; she saw through Rob in about 10 seconds flat and got sent away; she is not and never has loved Philip. TPTB have wrecked character consistency for another unwelcome storyline and maimed Lynda into the bargain. None of this is The Archers. This is coming from an editor who professes to want character driven stories and what are we getting – age old slavery (there is nothing modern about it) – and alcoholism.
Please let me know when normality returns – by which I mean six proper Archers related episodes.

I agree, whilst I’m constantly amazed at the ability of normally strong minded and independent women to fall for a ‘Wrong Un’, Kirsty woiuld never have given a Hunt Supporter the time of day. Or are we meant to belive that, even though she was prepared to go to jail over GM crops in the 90s she is instead a a modern enviromentalist? i.e. a 30 something Vegan who does Yoga and embraces new age therapies, ooh, who could I mean?
Seriously though, SW have ruined the charachter of Kirsty, who needs to leave now, and they underestimated the ability of listeners to endure ‘damaged Lynda’, her miraculous recovery is linked to the fact she was portrayed as a mean, vindictive haaridan whilst recovering, maybe more true to life for such a character, but still not audience winning regardless.
