DTD: 225 – The suave deputy head and the leather jacketed pervert.

Following last week’s exclusive non-recording enjoyed by Lucy and Roifield this week allows Lucy to double her output covering two weeks of action in Ambridge, so this week is 96 minutes long. For Lucy the talk about Martin Gibson’s wife sounded as though it had been extracted out of another century – laboured seventies sitcom – so who is Nora Batty? Roifield feels the Alistair / Shula breakdown has been well observed and written. Shula’s inarticulacy over her inability to exert control – of a very different type to Rob – together with her lack of communication skills has existed […]

DTD: 224 – Roifield and Shambridges talk Ambridge, Glambridge and the Royal wedding

An “extra” podcast allowing Harriet Carmichael to extol her passion for Royal Weddings with the Harry & Meghan extravaganza which has subsequently taken place.  Harriet reckons that the wedding will probably last 18 minutes.  Does that count as lesè-majesté? Naomi McDonald has joined Harriet (fresh from starring as an avocado!) and together they have concocted “Glambridge” as a new home for their work – but it is not yet a real podcast.  It arrives about 12 minutes 30 seconds in. This is followed by a number of callers including Vicki Cole,  who is once again passing through London and the […]

DTD: 223 Dumteedum Live – Lexi – Ania Sowinski, Nic Grundy – Becky Wright and Kirsty – Annabelle Dowler

This week’s podcast is a recording of Monday night’s live extravaganza when the DTD faithful assembled at the BBC cafe in Central London. Roifield and Lucy are joined by Ania Sowinski (aka Lexi), Annabelle Dowler (aka Kirsty) and Becky Wright (a ghostly Nic).  Shambridges arrived later!  Plus a special guest appearance from Derek. Absolutely loved “Adam the Paranoid Android” – Lucy’s best line.  Who does freeze kedgeree asks Lucy?  Answers on an email to Lucy please.  Lucy says it is much easier to do the monologue when there are no faces in front of her.  Lucy seems not to want […]

DTD: 222 – Brian and Adam’s only option is to torch the knicker factory and blow up the car lot!

Naked Fingers returns and Lucy’s excellent monologue is again graced by his contractual chortles – which merely proves the line remains live! The saga of Shula’s new car is discussed; Lucy observes that Shula probably has a very large Volvo and it looks like it will get a lot more use in the near future. Then Robert talks about something which has not happened yet before raising the very odd supper party at the Carters – who only invites one person to dinner? Is all well in the Adam/Ian household? Are either of them really capable of looking after a […]

DTD 221 – “Pork scratchings”?!! Not in front of the herd, Jazzer!!

I realise that The Archers is in the grasp of an interim editor as the last one departed having stuffed up poor Nic’s life but the gap from reality seems immense. Olwen represents the editor no doubt calling in a favour from the wonderful Alison Steadman. In my view Ms Steadman is of National Treasure status and the role she should have been given should have reflected that – she could have popped into Ambridge without being a car dwelling, cough ridden, angry old woman – she could have looked up her old Greenham friend, dispensed much left wing guidance […]

Character Count – April 2018

DTD 220 – “Anyone know the Ambridge turn off?” “I dont know but I did marry her!”

Robert (Naked Fingers) Wilson can be heard cackling throughout much of Lucy’s Week in Ambridge. Neil’s balls clacking together, the Grundy World of the Dead, Alistair’s graffiti, Kate’s farming plans & Brian’s view of employing women in a piggery all get a good reception from Robert. Brian already has his name on the title deeds of the farm – Adam said so. I want to know why after 40 years of marriage Jenny’s name is not on those deeds as well. Meanwhile moving Will and kids into Grange Farm was nonsense. Clarrie should have moved to Greenwood Cottage with Emma […]

DTD: 219 How awful is Shula, talking to her must be like talking to a bread board!

The fastest DumTeeDum in history this week came from Catherine Chevalier from Strawberry Hill which in turn was sponsored by Sally Dee on behalf of the Samaritans. What is Brian up to at Home Farm – failing to undertake any form of handover or transition – after all he still needs decent profits to maintain his lifestyle and affairs? Then Jake suddenly starts speaking whilst George, Ruari and Ben remain completely silent. No doubt there is a good reason. Lexi’s offspring will probably speak before it arrives! Roifield is able to relate to Alistair’s situation in relation to Shula – […]

DTD 218 – Brian and Shula get a going over

A DumTeeDum Carpool Karaoke is being suggested to over take James Corden (appearing in a cinema near you as Pierre Lapin) in popularity and it looks as though someone should organise it for 14 May at the live recording. Hosts are suntanned and holiday refreshed Lucy along with Robert who has recovered from his ailments. Stonking weekly ramble around the events in Ambridge this week from Lucy. I shall have to go and listen again. During the monologue a vacuum cleaner fires up – it seems Robert has a cleaner who does – now there’s posh! Discussion soon becomes a […]
