DTD: 217 – Susie Riddell, aka Tracey Horrobin joins Roifield to talk about the fall of the Aldridges

Another week brings another podcast but this week the hosts are Roifield & Susie Riddell [who goes by the name of Tracy Horrobin when given the chance] as Lucy is away. Susie admits that she is currently six months pregnant; she is a few weeks ahead of Pip – so perhaps her baby can play Pip’s baby? Susie / Tracy gives us a rundown on the listener / participant interface as she listens to events and also knows the action from the other side of the microphones hidden around the village. Roy and Lexi are key points of discussion as […]

DTD – 216 Alice gets hammered at the funeral, or last orders as she calls it!

Lucy reviews the week having listened far more closely than I did – I need to go back and listen again!  Much of the hilarity revolves around Nic’s funeral which makes for an entertaining change from normal.  However lessons in cheese and a detective mystery also feature in the round up of the week.  Sport relief has gone missing thank goodness – not from the Archers – just from the round up.  Please do not crowbar good causes into the programme. The Clarrie and Susan double act was strong again this week and Clarrie was able to give Susan a […]

DTD: 215 – The Dumteedum community comes together.

Pigs are complex, intelligent animals prone to various health conditions observes Lucy – would you want to entrust your drift (I looked it up) of pigs to the Fairbrethern who mainly know a little about taxis, gin and geese and not much else?  If farming was that simple I would be doing it!  And finally Shula has realised that Alastair is not the man for her so he has been given the boot as he would not join her rescuing horses overseas.  Like Lilian and Adam before her she has decamped to the Bull’s spare bedroom.  Roifield was shocked by […]

DTD: 214 – Coping with grief, loss and denial, listeners react to current threads in the Archers

We welcome Mary not Contrary’s DumTeeDum played on her son’s slightly damaged glockenspiel. We also welcome back Robert who has managed not to injure himself recently (subsequently however he cut his finger), although he did eat some rotten shark. A “pre-cinema bee keeping” session seems to have been the most exciting event in Ambridge this week. So I was quite surprised when listening to the episodes concerned to find that it was never actually broadcast – merely the subject of much discussion. What was broadcast included Alice not drinking for most of an evening. It is the longest she has […]

Roifield interviews Becky Wright, AKA Nic Grundy – Promo

Becky talks about moving to Birmingham as a child, loss, Mad Men and how she performed that last heart wrenching scene.

DTD: 213 – The week after Nic’s passing and Will Grundy is as loathsome as ever.

Lucy is finding the “Will” bits very hard to hear and the ups and downs of dealing with bereavement by the various Grundy family members is proving very difficult at the moment. Joe (Edward Kelsey) provided a really definitive touching performance this week so gets the clap from Roifield. The future for Mia and Jake is unclear – they seem to have returned to Will from Andrew – is this a little odd as they have not been shown to have a close relationship with Will? Miss Mid City reckons the grim reaper has been calling for the wrong people […]

Character Count – February 2018

DTD: 212 – Nic Grundy RIP

Huw Kennair-Jones came, tried to mop up after Sean O’Callaghan and then decided to return to telly box programmes having unjustly murdered Nic Grundy who had undergone a complete personality transplant including believing she was destined for hell prior to her untimely demise from sepsis but the poor quality BBC microphones could not pick up whatever Joe’s ears could. Talk about unbelievable with modern digital technology! Inevitably the story has touched many listeners who have had experiences related to the loss of relations in unexpected situations and there are some powerful stories recounted by contributors. Can I also welcome some […]
