DTD: 273 – Old Town Road Ambridge

Both the presiding judge and I had hoped that confining young Freddie to the care of Her Majesty for a period of time would enable the over-privileged, brain-dead, feckless scion of the house of the flying Nigel to undertake a period of mature reflection and consideration.  Nothing however seems to have got through the ears of the idiot until Russ tried to explain a few facts; will it last?  I doubt it! It strikes me however that Borsetshire is in a completely different universe.  Most mother and son pairings with two important appointments with no other commitments such as work […]

Ep: 266 – Lee Helen and the Tiramisu with added Firestarter to boot

Ambridge residents seem to move rarely – well farmers usually live on their own farms and so removal men are rare.  We saw the Aldridges forced to downsize last year and Alison has been working out that a whole series of moves are afoot. Ed and Emma and the children will be off to their (whisper it quietly) tiny affordable home on Beechwood.  Lucy reckons that somehow “Tim nice but Crim” will rip them off before it happens. Eddie, Clarrie and Joe have to leave Grange Farm as the rent is too high.  William will realise that the best tenants […]

DTD: 265 – Susan and Jenny fix the blocked sink

I have a new business idea: “Wenches with a Wrench”.  This should work well during the “Lenten Bob-A-Job” week in Ambridge, no plumbing job too large or too small, if you send for “Jennan”.  Blocked u-bend?  Radiator not warming? Drain not draining – who gonna call? “Jennan – Wenches with a Wrench”.  Should go down an absolute storm and earn a lot for the vicar as Jenny and Susan swing into action with wrenches, grips, plungers and blowtorches!  Well it is more fun than depression as experienced by Elizabeth, Mia and William all of whom were on a bit of […]

DTD: 264 – Like how many calls?

Much of this week’s podcast discusses depression and the impact arising therefrom.  Lucy discloses her own knowledge of such matters and feels that the matters which we talk about in whispers (eg – they are not married you know) are probably the ones about which we should converse at the top of our voices.  Not all mental health issues are depression of course and not every cause of depression is an example of poor mental health – the terms are not synonymous. Having listened again to the Omnibus I am rather more struck that I think the writer this week […]

DTD: 263 – Boring gays, Roifield and New York Nigel get into a tussle

Lucy remains under her blanket as she delivers her weekly discourse on Ambridge events, apparently the only solution is for her to return to her former house!  The unexpected appearance of Mr Mason from Downton Abbey receives comment but he obviously has farming experience and being distracted by him explains Jill’s inability to spot mental illness at Lower Loxley.  Carolyn Pickles also has famous connections as Lucy lays out for our delectation.  Bridge Farm management and economics come under the microscope and we all it hope it leads to Tom and Kirsty becoming a couple again by Christmas.  Roifield, there have been developments […]

DTD: 262 – If you like your Dumteedums an hour long we apologise, this one has an extra 19 minutes.

Lucy emerges from under her woolly dog blanket to deliver her contribution in even warmer dulcet tones.  The changed circumstances however prevent her clapping good performances as it would displace her microphone! Callerinerer demographics appear to be changing as the Ambridge Academics encourage more of the world to listen to the podcast, spreading the word.  This week there is a distinct strength of Northern contributions eliminating the previous domination of Southern accents.  The outreach grows ever wider! Top of this week’s discussions were the pressure being heaped on Brian lead to his somewhat inevitable volte face over his court plea and the praise […]
