Dumteedum does Zoom with Hedli Niklaus – aka Kathy Perks

Hedli Niklaus was born in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire, England as Celia H. Niklaus. She is known for her portrayal of Kathy Perks the ex-teacher Kathy who was married to Sid Perks. The union disintegrated following first her affair with policeman Dave Barry and then Sid’s with Jolene Rogers. DTD: 326 – Robert Snell gets some love and even Shula gets a little too

Snog, Marry or Kill.  Our hosts originally played this with The Archers characters many years ago, probably before I started writing summaries.   I won’t comment on their choices.  Being much older and therefore a longer term listener I think I will look back into history and high on the long term snog list is probably Siobhan – that voice!  And Caroline of course – for a similar reason.  Marry – oddly if I could have the racy somewhat horse mad Shula but I am of course forewarned by her later re-incarnation so I think the solid goodness of Clarrieluv […]

Kathy Come Home – Ambridge True Crime

Lucy Freeman investigates the disappearance of Kath Perks

DTD: 324 – Was Ed right to reject Emma and Dumteedum makes national news

DumTeeDum is a phenomenon according to Lucy and Roifield on the grounds that it has became a Mirror headline and achieved more column inches than any other podcast last week, anywhere in the world.  The BBC news reports were particularly outstanding as they misspelt Mr Molloy’s name!  However Lucy does not choose that as Headline of the Week preferring instead “Private Eye” which reportedly asked visitors not to go looking for Borchester, Felpersham or the Ambridge village green at present.   How do you solve a problem like Lynda?  Sadly I do not have the skills of Rodgers and Hammerstein […]

DTD: 323 – Lindy feels helpless and Robert can do no right

Am I allowed to say that Lucy got her knickers in a twist in her week in Ambridge?  Apparently not.  Anyway Adam and Brian run Home Farm (and not BL as mentioned by Lucy) which houses the sheep producing the lambs which Josh was employed to mind so that Ian could swan off and leave Adam holding the baby.  Also for those wondering why Kate was so nice to Lynda it may be useful for me to recall long forgotten events of more than 20 years ago when Lynda provided an arm around the shoulder and a calming influence to […]

DTD: 322 – The cabin fever episode…

Lucy assures us that in isolation Derek and Christine are learning Swedish which is particularly useful as that country has decided not to go into complete lockdown and does not seem to be suffering from maintaining their economy at a workable level.  Interesting approach.   For those who do not know what they were talking about information on Bod can be found on that link.  You Tube has various bits (and Bods).   The time dilation effect which has distorted the village and the lack of the virus can be traced back to a single moment in time as Red Agnes […]

DTD: 321 – Philip is a wrong ‘un and Roifield is so right!

A mega-sized podcast has been delivered by our hosts this week as the world needs Sanatogen in these difficult times and DumTeeDum is a very good tonic.  With everyone locked down at home the number of callers is way off the normal scale!   Lucy commences with a very colourful “Week in Ambridge” – well Ben’s car is colourful.  I think Lucy has upped the levels of nudity and sexual innuendo this week as well as decrying the Krusty Cruelty stories.  Meanwhile Roifield is hailed as the conquering hero by himself and everyone else for identifying the hyper villainous and […]

DTD: 320 Oh Lindy, poor Lindy Bottom

Roifield expresses views which I suspect are widely held.  As he says if Lynda survives she will be a very different person and much changed – is that what we want from “The Archers”?    Graham Blockley, as many of us know, was in his professional life before retirement a doctor (he was using his holidays to appear on the programme) and delivered a master class in being the distraught husband.  The terrible stories of recent weeks have been written to demonstrate Lynda’s value to the village – we knew the storieswere strange and characters were behaving oddly – now […]
