DTD: 398 – Lasagne, sound effects and a difference of opinion about board games.

Ambridge seems to be experiencing turbulent times in recent weeks this week magicking up Amy Franks for her first appearance in about 10 years and all she can tell us is that Alice is still drinking.  What a surprise!   Our hosts seem more interested in Mickey Mouse pyjamas than happenings in Ambridge and the reasons become crystal clear as Philippa reviews the tragedies on the Am from last week.  Frankly my dear I cannot give a damn. Philippa directing traffic in Shrewsbury in her pyjamas is probably a lot more exciting.   Isabelle reassures us that Martha is advancing […]

DTD: 397 – How long does a game of “Cowpat Roulette” last?

We are close to the new normal of Dumteedum as the triangular tri-umvirate of Philippa, Rosie and Quentin come together today.  From here on in I am going to have to manage my “P”s and “Q”s and “R”s very carefully.   However I should warn you all that alcohol can warp your mind and I say this in a week when Alush was not contributing.  The prime example is iCod whom I assume is acolyte of the Apple empire –  this week making two calls to our hosts.  In the first she remarkably forgets the name of the alcoholic on […]

DTD: 396-Alice leaves Ambridge

How likely is it that someone living in a glass house would either denigrate another local resident and perform rumpy-pumpy without drawing the curtains in the same week?  One or the other but not both, not when treating your beloved wife to stinky blue cheese and scrappy organic vegetables (presumably in the hope that she will suffer food poisoning and that you can replace her with the mistress); indeed if you are concerned about property values, why would you even contemplate observing about the feckless neighbours in a public forum as that is simply going to make things worse!  Somehow […]

DTD: 394 – Scarecrows, Secateurs and a surprising new caller.

The team this week is Quentin (who should have been on holiday but is replacing Roifield at short notice) and Philippa and they tackle the rights and wrongs of being kidnapped by your father and being committed.  For the rest of us we now get at least four weeks without Alice’s soapy nonsense.  Quentin’s contribution is over a somewhat dodgy wifi link.   Philippa is also wielding the secateurs as she is doing the post-record editing and she will not be popping them back to Neil later as she does not want to be the cause of further marital disharmony.  […]

DTD: 393 – Sol, Lilly and Rush and Roifield gets it

Quentin is finding loose balls in the West Country and then goes on a rampant sex-athon at Lower Loxley where he is joined by Philippa as Rosie is hors-de-combat.   Philippa admits to a BoJo sized u-turn on Mince Casey as he has gone from being her blue-eyed boy to having a thieving, mendacious killer profile; she reckons that with the mother only interested in the cash (a huge casting mistake to employ a National Treasure in such a role) that plans are afoot to end the widder Pargetter and rob the estate blind.  Given we have had two new […]

How many boyfriends did Shula have?

Apparently there is some form of football competition happening at present; its existence has so far completely by-passed Ambridge which remains in denial about covid, the weather and current events beyond Lower Loxley; however Roifield appears to be watching goals whilst discussing The Archers with Philippa.   This week we pivoted away from Alice and her alcohol dependence to Roifield and his football dependence to Neil Carter’s memory loss – like me he never remembers anything his good lady wife tells him – and his attempt at tidying Shula’s garden.  The Adam story rumbled along – and then suddenly Ian […]

DTD: 391 – In the exchange between Adam and Brian, Brian was completely right, however…

Quentin is managing two theatre trips in one week; Philippa has fully recovered – it was an excess of cherries casing the upset last and they join Rosie to review the week in Ambridge.   In Summary Towers I am writing this single handed as my left hand is heavily bandaged following my operation; it tends to be very slow to find some keys whilst capitals are very difficult!    Quentin finds listening to Adam very difficult.  Adam was forced to use a strange voice when he returned as he was initially confused with other residents, so his voice changed […]

DTD: 390 – Brian was excruciating, Jennifer’s voice got higher and higher. A normal week in Ambridge

For reasons best known to himself Roifield, who is hosting this week with Philippa, seems to spend more time telling us about two television programmes than last week on The Archers – was he listening to the latter?  One of those tv programmes name I did not catch so cannot tell you what it was – the other “Kim’s Convenience” is on Netflix if you can afford it and want to follow up the recommendation.   My observation this week is that Jenny would have gone and asked Oliver about Ed, not Ed.  Oliver could have said what he did […]

DTD: 389 – It was a week of long forgotten but rediscovered vehicles.

Philippa, Rosie and Quentin have been outside in the fine weather participating in various previously forbidden activities, cinema trips, gardening and similar.   Events in Ambridge are quickly assessed by Quentin and we all want to know the secrets of the Beechwood WhatsApp group; various theories are aired.   Obviously I was unsurprised by the speedy visit from social services, boxes were rapidly ticked and as I had anticipated Jenny Dahling’s premonition of Martha being taken into care dissipated faster than dissolving an Alka-Seltzer (other restorative pills are available) in water!  Alice prefers to disappear a hair of the dog […]

DTD: 388 – Vince loves Lizzy, The love edition…

Philippa has been celebrating 20 years of marriage spending it with the car recovery service after a tyre valve failure needing attention.  In answer to Roifield’s query it is a china anniversary so hopefully she now has a completely new chinaware collection.    In Ambridge we were subjected to something even worse than Alice – Lee, his super heroes and decorating skills.  In place of the Two and a Half Men of film fame we got the Three Dads, two of whom are actually competent at diy and one who is not.  We know that Lee is everything which is […]
