Character Count – May 2020

What a strange month! Most of May 2020 comprised the three weeks of The Archers Revisited episodes, broadcast to give the production team time to record new “Talking Heads” style episodes, with actors recording monologues from makeshift studios in their homes as a result of the Coronavirus lockdown restrictions preventing the usual recording process from taking place. None of the characters featured in the Revisited episodes is included in May’s Character Count. Her Majesty’s ex Principal Secretary of State for the Home Department, normally referred to as the Home Secretary, the Home Office and a senior Cabinet minister in Her Majesty’s Government, the first female Home Secretary that is Jacqui Smith, joins Roifield. DTD: 318 Could Kate and Jacob “really be like real in real life” and apologies to Germany

This week’s Dumteedum caused earthquake proportions of discomfort in Kosmo towers on initial hearing.  First up Roifield issued a detailed apology to the entire German nation over the utterance of a discarded national anthem, following which Lucy commented on the week in Ambridge referring to events of which I had absolutely no memory.    Eventually my brain sorted itself out and I decided that as I had not yet heard this week’s episodes of The Archers I thought I should probably go and do that before hearing Lucy’s take on events!  Lucy has been busy recently with a Year in Ambridge […]

DTD: 317 Lucy told me the title it’s in the show but I’ve forgotten what she said

The title this week is, according to Lucy: “The one where Roifield and Lucy don’t talk about the biggest storyline in The Archers and then actually talk about it!”.  I agree with one point.  Robert Snell would not endorse cheating; the whole thing is making a nonsense of the characters.  These two women have a grandchild in common so no doubt they will soon be tearing Mungo in half.   Lucy rules as we all acknowledge.  As ever she excels with her week in Ambridge covering the tiny stories (Johnny’s bald spot) and the large dramatic excesses – Lynda’s sit […]
