DTD: 300 – The 300th Dumteedum and its a shambles

Summarising this week’s DumTeeDum has been delayed by one of those disasters that always seems to strike me – the batteries on the earphones run down about two minutes after starting the dog walk where it was planned to absorb this week’s words of whimsy (sorry I think that should read wisdom) from Lucy, who has returned from her travels to deliver a wicked summary of the week in Ambridge which majors on pussy, and Roifield who regales us with a story of the kindness of the DTD community during his visit to Canada.    Being episode 300 there are […]

DTD: 299 – Meet ups, CBT and bottles of Brown sauce.

Our favourite slice of countryside reportage often repays careful listening.  At the moment I am deeply distressed that there is no good reason why Beechwood Joy should exist – village incomers have to have a reason for being in that location and for the writers not to bother to explain why “Beechwood” has landed from outer space just makes her an alien.  Normal people would tell their neighbours (Kirsty and Phil) why their Tardis has materialised and the absence of this information is distorting our view and enjoyment of “Beechwood”‘s tittle tattle as Margaret Woolley described it.   However I […]

DTD: 298 – Joe Grundy passes

Angela Barnes (who recently hosted an excellent Radio 4 Extra retrospective of the Python team including the first ever Cambridge Circus – still on BBC Sounds) has joined Naked Fingers for our podcast this week.  There were some excellent jokes in Ms Barnes’ week in Ambridge and she tells us she is already looking forward to the invasion of the Teutonic winter markets which appear to have taken over town centres for the month of December, not to mention the mulled WKD!   Anyway it appears that cider alcohol is the road to horniness having put Basil to rights – […]

DTD: 297 – The glittery Grout that holds it all together

Lucy is a little better than last week – and that is just the jokes which as usual take her “Week in Ambridge” to places the writers would never even consider – mentioning both Brexit and Plovdiv, the second largest city of Bulgaria!  I hope that I do not need to explain the dual meaning of “poppers”.    I was confused over discussions of “Basil” and “sex” as I misheard it as “Boris” and thought Prime Ministers were too busy to indulge in such matters but apparently the “Basil” is not the one of the busses but is in fact […]

DTD: 296 – The Chesticovs welcome little Xander to Ambridge

Roifield is looking for a new Lucy as she is off to the USA & Jersey if she survives that long as her chest needs rubbing again.  Applications on a postcard please says Roifield, do they even make postcards any more?     Near the end of the podcast I am summoned like a genius in a bottle to explain the economics of the Conservation Trust and Re-Wilding.  My view is that the cost of bringing Oscar Wilde back to life is unlikely to be covered by any plays he might write about his experiences in whichever location he has been […]
