DTD: 401 – Saint Shula, Needy Neil & Stressed Susan. Plus a deep discussion on favourite types of cake

The “new normal” arrives on Dumteedum with Philippa recycling my “P”s and “Q”s joke from some weeks ago.  Thief!   Philippa and Quentin are now in charge and he gives us a run down of events last week in Ambridge whilst ongoing discussions cover dentists, reflections on the inability of 13 year old boys to clean their teeth (at least he will never pull with bad breath) whilst Philippa is planning to resurrect her Tik Tok (whatever that might be) account to enable her to do interpretative dance of her book reviews.  Quentin reports that he managed to teach […]

DTD: 400 – We bid farewell to Roifield & chat about Roy’s haircut, Jennifer’s Cheesecake and Ian’s Beetroot mousse.

All hail Roifield as he appears one last time.  Philippa puts him under the microscope and questions him about the recent zoom. In particular he admits that staring down 40 cows was not the most pleasurable experience of his time with Dumteedum; apparently their size was slightly surprising, but none them bulls!  Roifield is also able to celebrate that we are more than a podcast as the virtual community has often become a physical connection in many cases.   We are back to five episodes a week and once again the number of contributors is off the scale.  Regrettably Rosie […]

DTD: 399 – The slap, the scarecrow and a sadly deflated prediction.

Alice has been in need of a smack for some time to bring her to her senses, her mother finally delivered one this week and this listener hopes that has sent Alice off to sort herself out.  Comment is made that the slap was socially distanced, from about Lower Loxley.  Our hosts are surprised that Alice did not immediately phone ChildLine.  I know our eldest daughter threatened calling them on a daily basis over 25 years ago.   Changes are afoot within Dumteedum towers as the new team are going to be recording on Sunday afternoons, presumably having been to […]

DTD: 398 – Lasagne, sound effects and a difference of opinion about board games.

Ambridge seems to be experiencing turbulent times in recent weeks this week magicking up Amy Franks for her first appearance in about 10 years and all she can tell us is that Alice is still drinking.  What a surprise!   Our hosts seem more interested in Mickey Mouse pyjamas than happenings in Ambridge and the reasons become crystal clear as Philippa reviews the tragedies on the Am from last week.  Frankly my dear I cannot give a damn. Philippa directing traffic in Shrewsbury in her pyjamas is probably a lot more exciting.   Isabelle reassures us that Martha is advancing […]

DTD: 397 – How long does a game of “Cowpat Roulette” last?

We are close to the new normal of Dumteedum as the triangular tri-umvirate of Philippa, Rosie and Quentin come together today.  From here on in I am going to have to manage my “P”s and “Q”s and “R”s very carefully.   However I should warn you all that alcohol can warp your mind and I say this in a week when Alush was not contributing.  The prime example is iCod whom I assume is acolyte of the Apple empire –  this week making two calls to our hosts.  In the first she remarkably forgets the name of the alcoholic on […]

DTD: 396-Alice leaves Ambridge

How likely is it that someone living in a glass house would either denigrate another local resident and perform rumpy-pumpy without drawing the curtains in the same week?  One or the other but not both, not when treating your beloved wife to stinky blue cheese and scrappy organic vegetables (presumably in the hope that she will suffer food poisoning and that you can replace her with the mistress); indeed if you are concerned about property values, why would you even contemplate observing about the feckless neighbours in a public forum as that is simply going to make things worse!  Somehow […]

DTD: 395 – A catfish, an interview, a PE teacher and a WhatsApp kerfuffle.

Welcome, Philippa, Rosie and Quentin are reunited in celebration of last week in The Archers; Quentin is particularly rural but in sight of a mast so has a strong signal.   For the second week running characters were showing complete aberration, with David and Ruth being cheerful; Lee turning violent and Eddie running a successful scam in fleecing the groom (Yam Yam) who, unlike the rest of the country appears to walk around with over £300 cash in his back pocket!  Have you tried paying anyone in cash recently?  I have been in pubs that simply refused to take money.  […]

How many boyfriends did Shula have?

Apparently there is some form of football competition happening at present; its existence has so far completely by-passed Ambridge which remains in denial about covid, the weather and current events beyond Lower Loxley; however Roifield appears to be watching goals whilst discussing The Archers with Philippa.   This week we pivoted away from Alice and her alcohol dependence to Roifield and his football dependence to Neil Carter’s memory loss – like me he never remembers anything his good lady wife tells him – and his attempt at tidying Shula’s garden.  The Adam story rumbled along – and then suddenly Ian […]
