Lucy & Roifield return to our ears with their mission to inform, educate and entertain the world on their specialist subject – The Archers. Roifield is ensconced in one of the Colonies and we open with a New York City DumTeeDum. Later Roifield did admit he might have missed the odd episode.
Massed voices proclaim that the current disconnect between the grim and unremitting gothic horror story on one side and near normality village life marching along hand in hand means that “The Archers” fails as a cohesive whole and continues to undermine the 65 years of history and does not deliver the entertainment sought by the listeners. Bringing back a fair balance is going to be an uphill struggle for any new editor.
Lucy has forgotten that on the night of the flood Rob was also showed that he was a coward as he wanted to get away to Borchester but in the end became a hero rescuing Aunty Christine and getting a bump on the head.
Pat’s police interview was nonsense. Earlier in the week the CPS had handed over their evidence to the defence, so come Tuesday the police would be unable to add to their evidence at that point. And Lucy and Roifield destroy it for other reasons. So the management team are churning out nonsense.
Yokel Bear popped in to celebrate Jim and Jazzer being reunited. Now we just need Jazzer to remind Tom of his drug addiction and mental problems and for them to be reunited as well. He does not think much of Miranda though. For Witherspoon’s benefit a PRO does not end on divorce – and for Lucy’s benefit I am not sure Helen is yet ready to cite an irretrievable breakdown of marriage based on Rob’s unreasonable behaviour and in any event they have not been married one year
