Wow. A big round numbered one. That came round quickly. And it does not quite go according to plan. Hedli Niklaus opens the show with a DumTeeDum; then there is another one from Nicola Headlam! Lucy and Roifield are joined by Robert Wilson – but the colour coded script is soon causing confusion.
A bravura performance from Lucy as she delivers the best joke of the day on threesomes immediately after the conclusion of her weekly summary. Lucy then manages to take her co-hosts apart with carefully aimed questions over Toby’s behaviour reflecting their own innocent high jinks when younger.
Robert is sick of kids and does not want another baby on The Archers – another pregnancy story is simply one too many. OTOH there has been a huge shortage of normal pregnancies over recent years – witness Kirsty, Phoebe and Ian all in short order. Obviously filling the gaps between editors.
Roifield recants his comments from on last week – the election episode was outstanding when he relistened to it properly for the DTD extra on the election. Great character interplay.
Lucy is convinced Pip will not be having the Fairbrother child – she is simply not interested in it. Robert agrees. With hindsight they may be glad that was not an official prediction. Roifield continues his support for Toby.
And “Hunting for Bunting” should be the Christmas Number One.
Many thanks to the very many correspondents who have contributed funds to keep the show on the road in recent months.
