You know the disclaimer that appears at the end of films “no animals were harmed in the making of this picture” sadly I cannot say the same about this podcast as Boris finally makes short work of a large mouse holed out in Lucy’s shed (or as she prefers to say “her studio”). As the returning Naked Fingers mentions another name for a large mouse is a rat. It also appears that there has been a meetup of our presenters at a party and yet there is no evidence provided of this through the submission of an opening “DumTeeDum” – standards are not being maintained – although the New York meetup is witnessed by some very fine vocals.
In a storyline which has finally explained why Alastair did not move out of Greenacres some months ago but decided to stay on in his father’s poky cottage we were forced to hear why Jim is the man he is. Some careful writing, no doubt deft direction plus outstanding acting has dredged up memories from 1947/8 for our ears. He suffered and legal redress is unlikely; however unless the future story has some positives to deliver I fear that once again The Archers has been snagged by a modern bandwagon and is not remaining true to the guidance given in the early days and reported by June Spencer – https://tinyurl.com/June-Spencer : “We were told it was not a drama: it was real life overheard.”
