Lucy and Roifield return and appear to be in agreement that this week was of high quality throughout. Hopefully a dissenting voice will be permitted. Underlying aspects of the story do not match reality. We all know it is possible to exchange and complete a house sale contract on the same day. A new build such as the Grundies were to buy would not have that arrangement. The exchange which locked in the buyers and sellers would be around 4 weeks not three working days before completion, potentially longer to ensure the buyer is on the hook.
Then it was an absolute nonsense to send Emma round the village allegedly to change the deposit to counter Ed’s lost contract of employment (and let us be in no doubt he was a permanent contracted employee at Home Farm, not a contractor – that was hours above and beyond the standard 35/36). Having lost his contract of employment this was a major change and even a minor change to the deposit would require the final contract to be amended and incur additional legal fees.
It was all written for dramatic effect but was so unbelievable that it was impossible to take seriously, so whilst I appreciate the hard work the actors expended, it was an engineered nonsense.
And Roifield I believe that the Jim retcon story can be dated back to last Autumn when very suddenly Alastair did not move out.
In another lack of competence by the editor in the previous week Oliver was the scapegoat for Kenton’s failings at the Bull having taken on extra duties. This week the writer has exiled him to Italy for a holiday completely forgetting that he is the one (not) holding the Bull together in Jolene’s absence. Geoffrey Webb, Edward J Mason and Bruno Milna to mention but three must surely be spinning so hard in their graves as to provide enough power for the entire National Grid at such poor editing.
