One of the many callerinerers this week points out that the script came from the keyboard of Nick Warburton who impressed Lucy with his “On Mardle Fen” plays and which can be downloaded if you have an Audible subscription. However the performance of the week came from Neil Carter (whose existence on the programme dates back to 1973) who was able to assert himself after 35 years of marriage and tell Susan that she needed to take a long look at herself in the mirror as to why Emma might not want to confide in “Radio Susan” – the Ambridge answer to Twitter. Which reminds me – whatever happened to Emma’s supposed excellence at using the internet and Twitter and so on?
I feel for Jim (although the story is a nonsense) as every time he puts himself back together one of his useless lodgers puts him back to ground zero. First Alastair a couple of weeks ago with a suggestion that Jim gets counselling (Jim and a counsellor – has Alastair ever met his father?; also if Lizzie is an example we get to hear one session and then the counsellor gets a job on Coronation Street with a gambling obsessed dead loss of a husband) and then this week Jazzer wanting Jim to pop along a few doors and tell Sgt Burns what happened over 70 years ago! Give the poor man a chance and let him resolve his problems his way.
And seriously the nude calendar idea was a joke – this is not the seventies you know! But we still need the iTunes reviews please!
