Lucy’s monologue steals gently into your ears and then stomps all over your brain as it completely subverts your memory of the ongoing events in Ambridge. Lynda and Robert are delivering some wonderful performances and I think we should all be grateful that Graham Blockley retired and became available to make a far larger contribution on air.
In a clear acknowledgement of his abundance of spare time, Roifield admitted he had notes on events this week and had even researched items in relation to callers’ comments! This research appears to consist largely of potted histories of the contrast between the amateur and professional in the games of football and cricket (the Ambridge football team vanished many years ago).
Lucy then explains about her way of looking at things and the other way, which is always wrong – particularly in relation to cancer. Roifield has had a touch of the painful bits and tells all the men to get ourselves checked out down there. This has been a public service announcement although what it has to do with The Archers I am not sure – none of the residents ever seems to visit a doctor and Jill only ever had one cataract fixed which was unusual!
And check out all the mentions of vampires this week!
