DTD number 333, that means we are halfway to the devil number. So we are all half devils!
I was musing about The Archers and “Just a Minute” and realised our favourite docu-drama had become a complete failure as a contestant. Hesitation – it completely ran out of new episodes. Repetition then set in as old episodes were raided to fill the gap. Finally it became deviation central as all pretence at being a continuing docu-drama since 1951 was abandoned in favour of this modern thought-leadership nonsense in place of being a proper drama involving two or more people. Even Nicholas Parsons (of blessed memory) would have had no difficulty in ruling The Archers incapable of speaking and to be honest after listening to Bodge Farm (where Pat is probably dead and buried because she cannot talk to Kathy) moan on. It is not just Henry who need counselling but the entire branch of the family including Nocasha.
Peter Fickling joins the hosts for the first time (he is not the only Brit in Oakland) and says how much he enjoyed the episodes and he actually stands up for Helen. Indeed he seems to provide support rather than antagonism
On accents in the family – both Jenny (who went away to college) and Lilian (years in Guernsey) have lived away from the village whilst Tony has never been anywhere.
Hull. I went there once – it was the headquarters of Comet and I went for a meeting. It is a long way away.
