This week the technology behind the podcast is laid bare as it seems Keri is dependent on the indulgent Mimi who suggested turning it all off and on again. Storylines in The Archers are second best to those of the podcast itself which also briefly visits Brookfield for some animal noises appearing in the mix along with some very deep voice from the chef on South Park who is Pete’s preferred alter ego apparently.
Roifield forgets that The Archers did go off air for three weeks – by playing repeats. So they did not move from competence to incompetence overnight. They simply did not put the available resources into the hands of the technical team and they did not get themselves organised as radio producers. If they really are still preparing the programme in the same way as 70 years ago given modern digital methods that distresses me and almost proves that sadly the BBC is not fit for purpose if within three weeks it could not adapt to record the written episodes.
Meanwhile Timotei’s downfall was meaningless as he would never be stupid enough to return to Beechwood – it had been carefully established that he was not that stupid. And frankly Harrison and Fallon are marginal characters being given excessive air time so they can have children. Heaven help us.
Farewell to Millie Belle tonight.
