This week I have to prostrate myself on the ground in awe as we hear from Sunny Ormonde who relates her return to the Mailbox as The Archers recommence proper recording in the studio. She tells us about the new arrangements for recording as they all stand 2m apart and the director has to be on the recording floor as the booth where he would normally be is not large enough for three people. Some remote recording will continue – but the most that can be achieved at the moment is two-handers and there will still be a lot of soliloquies. Hopefully it will feel more like a proper continuing docu-drama rather than the rubbish served up recently. As Sunny says the powers that be felt something was better than nothing. (1m plus is not possible as recording with face masks on probably would not work).
Sunny is not personally keen on g&t – preferring a pint of beer – although Lilian is quite happy with her Scruff gin. Sunny would love Tiger to return and cause mischief as her dream storyline.
As ever Roifield’s voice put people to sleep – this time it was Sunny! And remember everyone Roifield wants an email – he must be feeling lonely!
The whole nonsense of the tea room rent was just that. Not a great idea by the writing team – Helen was presumably out to lunch to think that putting the rent back up was a good idea.
