DTD: 355 – Hunting for action in Ambridge, its slim pickings this week

Rosie Porty and Quentin Rayner are back and so was Willum as Eddie and Will morphed back into Del Boy and “Dave” Trotter replaying times past as the metal detector also re-appeared for a treasure hunt on Brookfield, which led to Eddie turning into a Brookfield security guard.    Quentin expresses the view that Philip and Gavin had set up the non-attendance at the GA meeting but I do not buy this as Philip could not see a way out of the village without convincing Kirsty (who is very easily duped which I don’t buy) that Gavin is safe to […]

EP: 354 – Sisters doing it for themselves and other Ambridge goings on

Pip gets a good kicking from the team this evening.  And she deserves it.  Since the voice changed it has been impossible to believe in “nu-Pip” and her stories, particularly involving re-wilding simply beggar belief.  Roifield supports this in identifying Pip as lacking audio identity as compared with the previous incumbent.     For the record the Trustees were appointed when Nigel was murdered by David.  However the chair of Trustees was talking absolute bollocks in the way he spoke to Lizzie which was entirely out of order.  If the Trustees cared about the estate and looking after the inheritance then […]

Ambridge at war book review

Roifield interviews author Catherine Miller about her new book Ambridge at war and then is joined by Philippa of The Quick Book Reviews Podcast to review the book that all Archers fans should buy for Christmas. Here is the link for the Ambridge at war quiz page on the Dumteedum website. https://dumteedum.com/ambridge-at-war-quiz/

DTD: 353 – Lizzy and Vince, will they be a thing? Roifield is joined by Phillipa Hall of the Quick Books Review Podcast

A new host joins Roifield this week – Phillipa Hall is in the co-host chair – the podcast spends a fortune moving that chair around the country each week to enable us to hear so many different voices.  Phillipa hugely enjoyed former co-host Jackie Smith’s appearance on Strictly Come Dancing at the weekend and we all hope that an Archers listener can reach the final.   Amber arrives to do That Was the Ambridge week That Was (almost TWAT Week) as Vince commences his pursuit of Lizzie (not difficult given that Roy succeeded), the writers avoided the pass the ipad […]

DTD: 352 – Elizabeth and Vince Casey a match made in Borsetshire!

This week we heard the MinceMate man become aware of the newly re-awakened Lizzie who is allegedly being busy on the dating scene.  Brummie MinceMate has a couple of daughters with a significant age difference, implying to me that he has been through two wives already.  Roifield feels that MinceMate is the new Woolley figure – lots of money, comes from somewhere near Stirchley and a proper Brummie accent.    Strewth Ruth.  Changing tack from no-one can dig our land ever to welcoming a horde of hoard seekers within a few days seems improbable.  She is probably Alice’s White Queen […]

DTD: 351 – Hidden coins and hidden pregnancy problems!

Every so often Roifield goes “Help us out Kosmo?” and this week it is the wonderful “Jenny dahling” and her background.  I would love Jenny D to be invited on DumTeeDum please.  Angela Piper sounds from comments of other cast members to be a wonderful individual and she deserves being recognised on DumTeeDum.    Turning to the question raised some years ago she was accused of being Oxbridge educated on account of her accent and she simply made reference to a Teacher training college.  I think that Walsall should be proud of producing such an accent.  For some reason which I […]

DTD: 350 – Sunny Ormonde aka Lilian Bellamy -Quentin Raynor and Rosie Portie

This week’s podcast is a slight departure from normal as Sunny Ormonde (Lillian Bellamy) returns for a Friday evening Zoom with Roifield, Rosie Porty and Quentin Raynor with the last of those undertaking some probing and yet delightful questioning of Sunny on the way that the actors can maintain physical distancing yet kiss other village residents.    Sunny also brings us up to date on current recording arrangements in the Mailbox in Birmingham and the new studio arrangements.   She is fairly confident that there will be no reversion to complete monologues as skills of recording at least two party conversations […]

DTD: 349 – Kirsty has fallen and hit her head. THEY ARE UP TO SOMETHING YOU DAFT COW

Food.  Clearly the need to fill time despite there being only four episodes a week means that our hosts fall to discussing the favourite sandwiches of the characters in the village and why coronation chicken might be the food of taste for a slaver whilst Roifield reports that getting a simple cheese and pickle sandwich is hard in foreign countries.   Julie is recalled by an emailer who indicated that they thought Julie was black.  However this was not quite true.  The actual report was that the programme had been criticised for not having people of colour until Kate acquired […]

DTD: 348 – Alice gets close to Gavin

This is a little late as I have been taking a holiday in the Lake District.  Many thanks for all of the kind comments and although I was not feeling ill at the time of my little episode I was suffering from breathlessness and it is noticeable that I am not suffering anywhere near as badly.  Thank you to Roifield for making my thanks to the NHS reach an even wider public.  They may not always get it right – but when they do it can be wonderful   Anyway nose to the grindstone (that Roifield drives us all very […]

DTD: 347 – Bloody Nora, the Archers is back!

This week The Archers reported that Alice is a drunk and pregnant, that Gavin likes horse racing per Radio Susan and no doubt our hosts will examine the fine detail of events with their usual forensic attention.   Roifield reports that I sometimes ignore the podcast and this is one of those weeks.  I have encountered some medical problems over recent months and no diagnoses had been made.  I have been overdue an operation – I had the first one 21 months ago and in January this year I was put back on the waiting list for the other half […]
