I agree with you: it’s not exactly gripping my attention at the moment.

I loathe Hannah and we’ve seen this nonsense before with Pip and Toby where “friends with benefits” end up in a relationship. It’s stupid! Making out you’re so modern and you can avoid any sort of emotional attachment but then you end up being dull and fairly conventional, trying to make a relationship work. I don’t buy it.

So I hope that doesn’t happen here.

Who knows what’s going on with Roy and Lexi?! Loads of migrant workers have that dreadful emotional dilemma of leaving family members behind to make a life elsewhere. My parents left Jamaica in the 1960s and went through something similar.

I don’t understand how Lexi was perfectly happy and settled in life and work in the UK to the point where she was willing to have a surrogate child (!) but now she feels less happy and less settled because now she’s missing her adolescent daughters. It doesn’t add up. The thing that I would have thought would have caused significant emotional conflict and destabilise her would be the impact of of a pregnancy and surrogacy on her fledgling romantic relationship with Roy. However, she appeared to weather that disturbance fairly easily.

The whole situation is complex, I’m sure, but it isn’t actually making much sense to me.
