I thought I’d moved on to coping. Now Tichynob is a speaking character again I’m back to square one. This is like waiting for the tuna bake to hit the fan all over again. Sigh.

I was rather taken aback by hearing him speak as well. I didn’t realize how relieved I had been by him being silenced until the twisted anxiety came rushing back at hearing his voice.

Shall we instigate a Knob alert for when ‘he who shall not be named’ is in the programme? That way people who listen the following day or to the omnibus would at least be able to prepare themselves. No spoilers just a Waaaooo Waaaooo Knob Alert Knob Alert.

Last night’s (Wednesday) is Knob free – unless you count Lynda! ๐Ÿ™‚

I was surprised by how quickly he was straight back to evil and sounding fit as a fiddle.

One of my favourite writers, the late David Foster Wallace, has a short story called “The Suffering Channel” wherein an American cable TV station broadcasts 24 hours a day of the physical and emotional agony of unfortunate souls dealing with loss, injury, illness and strife.

Sometimes it really feels like the Helen Archer story thread is “The Suffering Channel” without the images. It’s audio-pornography for people who fetishize the incessant emotional torture of one doomed character.

Just when it looked like maybe a turnaround might be in sight, Rob’s behaviour upon awakening has killed all hope I had of this resolving any time in the coming weeks and months.

The Helen Archer character (and her immediate family) will go on suffering, for whose enjoyment I’m not sure… and this is not what I personally seek in fictional entertainment.
