I think you are right, Rob would have copped out and left it to Ursula. In regard of how they handled it with Henry I’m not sure. They could have treated it as just a normal handover or they could have told him it was his turn to live with Helen now. Not sure how you tell a 5 year old he isn’t going to be allowed to see someone who they have relied on.

Maybe he just immediately gave up on Henry. I was never quite sure if he had any genuine feelings for him or just used him as a pawn. He has now gone back to refering to “my son”, as if Henry doesn’t exist anymore. Have we ever heard him express any real emotions of sadness that wasn’t just put on for other people?

I’m sure social services/CAFCASS would have had given advice if they’d been approached.

Henry would need to know from Rob that it was OK for him to go. He’d need reassurance and that would be better from Rob than from Ursula. He needs to know that Rob, on the surface, is “happy” for this to happen. Not that he finds it too difficult to be present and is unhappy with it. Rob would have to call on his excellent acting skills once again.

And then again, I found the judge’s decision curious: why would he cut Rob out of Henry’s life and yet allow him to get a foothold in Jack’s life? It’s not often that siblings (even half-siblings) are treated differently.

Henry’s emotional reaction to the end of contact (and the end of his relationship with Rob) needs to be managed sensitively. There’s no way he’s going to understand why he can’t live with Rob now and he’s going to struggle to understand why Jack spends time with Rob but he can’t. This is a child who has already suffered psychological harm, according to the social worker. I reckon she should be offering some sort of therapeutic help to Henry through CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) or something.

Miss Mid City I agree with everything however CAMHS is non existent in many areas. It exists in name and only and gaining access is nigh on impossible and then they do nothing, It simply does not exist in any practical sense.
