    For those moments when I fancy creating my own couture (and unlike Emma Grundy and her wedding dress, I don’t have Clarrie or Susan to help me) …

    Don’t reckon on it!

    My sewing is actually limited to darning holes and altering trousers. I felt rather proud of myself for turning a couple of pairs of boot leg jeans into straight legs and taking in the waistband of some trousers. The last time I made something to wear was when was at school. Buying the book was supposed to change all that … ! But I didn’t realise how much fabric costs!
