While I think the storyline itself is mostly well written, it is starting to make the programme unbalanced. Even when other characters get a storyline and make a few appearences, they’re not storylines that run for very long, nor are they as meaty as the Helen and Rob story. Like Ruth appearing to be maybe on the verge of leaving David, but oh, hey, it’s okay, she’s not and she just wants to change the way they farm. The Grundy family potentially homeless, but oh wait, they can live at Grange farm, they’re fine. Kenton seems to start to spiral down into depression and financial disaster, but David bailed him out and now he’s happy as Larry again.
That’s why I have high hopes of the Adam, Charlie and Ian love triangle story. They’ve built it up slowly. It’s currently at a turning point – Adam’s declared his love, now we wait to see if Charlie will go or stay. If he goes, that storyline will likely peter out too. If he stays, then there’s potential for plenty of meaty drama over the next few months.
